Therapy Modalities
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a highly effective, evidence-based approach to help individuals heal from trauma and PTSD, anxiety, panic, phobias, grief and loss, and other distressing experiences. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess difficult memories and reduce their emotional impact. EMDR can help reduce emotional distress related to past adverse experiences, improve your ability manage triggers, and foster lasting changes in thought and behavior patterns.
Early Trauma Processing
An early childhood trauma method of EMDR that teaches the use of containment and a sense of safety to reset the circuits affected by the early trauma as well as clearing any early trauma.
Attachment Repair Strategies
Ego state therapy that helps repair attachment wounds from early childhood. DNMS (Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy) is a common attachment repair method we use. DNMS is a gentle, transformative therapeutic approach to healing childhood attachment wounds. Through guided imagery and internal parts work, clients connect with healthy adult resources which can then meet the unmet developmental needs of wounded child parts, helping them heal and become “unstuck” from past trauma.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Used to change unhealthy thoughts, beliefs and attitudes about self and others. CBT is an evidence-based therapy that focuses on the links between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through this goal-oriented approach, practical skills and techniques are taught to help identify and reshape unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes about self and others.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
A modified form of cognitive behavioral therapy that is designed to help those who are suffering from mood disorders as well as unhealthy behavior patterns. DBT is an evidence-based therapy developed to support individuals experiencing intense emotions, mood disorders, and unhealthy behavior patterns. Clients are taught to identify triggers for their behaviors and learn mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals build psychological flexibility by learning to be present in the moment, accept difficult thoughts and feelings, and commit to actions that align with personal values. Clients are empowered to relate to painful emotions differently and learn to live more fully and authentically even in the face of life’s challenges.
Ego State Therapy
Identifies and names different facets of a personality and aims to integrate all of these personality "parts" so that they will work together.
Gestalt Therapy
A humanistic form of therapy that teaches mindfulness and how to react to situations as they are actually happening as opposed to what might be, could be or should have been.
Person-centered/Humanistic Therapy
A warm, supportive, nonjudgmental approach that places the client in the center of the healing process, allowing you to explore your thoughts, emotions, values, and experience at your pace. The process encourages self-discovery, empowerment, and lasting personal growth. This approach emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine connection between client and therapist.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
An evidence-based approach aimed at understanding and healing the different “parts” within yourself, such as the inner critic, the perfectionist, the caretaker, or the wounded child part. IFS helps to build a compassionate relationship with your internal parts and works to restore a comfortable balance.
Mindfulness-Based (MBCT)
An evidence-based approach that supports increased emotional resilience for responding to stress and emotional challenges. MBCT helps to foster a sense of present-moment awareness as well as skills to observe thought patterns without judgement to improve overall well-being.
Brainspotting
A powerful therapeutic technique that uses specific eye positions called “brainspots” to tap into the brain’s ability to access and process traumatic memories and emotions. By working with a trained brainspotting therapist, clients can work at their own pace to start to experience remarkable emotional and physical relief.
Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)
REBT is focused on helping people identify, challenge, and change irrational beliefs using cognitive, emotive, and behavioral interventions. The therapist helps the client understand that their beliefs about an activating event leads to emotional consequences. Teaching the client to recognize and change their beliefs about the activating event leads to a healthier emotional response.
