Counseling Approach

I believe that everybody is inherently a genuine, growth-oriented person deserving to live a
happy fulfilling life. When dealing with negative thoughts and emotions, we tend to avoid
confronting them, seeking safety behaviors resulting in maladaptive behaviors that may
negatively impact our mental well-being. Our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors all impact each
other and faulty beliefs about ourselves, others, as well as the world around us can result in
negative thinking patterns. I understand the difficulties of addressing these thoughts and feelings
and the anxiety/stress it may bring along with it. I am here to help address those negative
thinking patterns and behaviors as well as work with you in self-correcting faulty beliefs.

I am a counseling intern completing my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at the
University of Northern Colorado. I received my bachelor’s in psychology from Colorado State
University and have been studying mental health counseling for six years. I have experience
working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder
(OCD), bipolar disorder, relationship issues, and issues regarding adjustments to change in life. I
provide a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and
Gestalt Therapy to individuals ranging in age from adolescent to older adulthood. Through these
methods I hope to help you understand yourself and the world around you, as well as provide
you with the tools to continue living with a positive mental well-being.
